Storm glass was used to forecast weather information during navigation in Europe in the early 19th century.
It is said that several chemicals are dissolved in alcohol and packed in a glass container, and the appearance of crystals changes depending on the weather.
The Royal Navy's Admiral Robert Fitzroy studied this device in detail, and is also called the “Fitzroy meteorometer”.
In fact, the relationship between weather conditions and crystallization inside liquids has not been scientifically elucidated.
