Glass float thermometer drop

The physicist Galileo Galilei discovered that the specific gravity of the liquid changes with temperature. This thermometer is made using that principle.
A glass sphere that rises and falls according to the temperature indicates the temperature. The actual temperature is read with the plate attached to the bottom glass sphere floating above the glass sphere.
